Astrological factors of Glucoma

Glucoma is the most dreaded disease of eye which leads to blindness. The disease may be originated from heredity or by some other means. The nature of the disease determines its symptoms. Infantile Glucoma is hereditary which expresses itself from very childhood. The symptoms include secretion of water from eyes, inability to exposure to light etc. Primary Glucoma usually starts after 40 years of age with the symptoms of headache, pains in eyes, gradual decrease of eye-sight etc. It is also hereditary in nature. In non-hereditary Glucoma, pressure on eyes suddenly increases; in some cases continued use of steroids may result in this disease. In Glucoma, the nerve system of eyes gradually weakens and dries up. In Applied Astrology, the entire nerve system is controlled by Moon, Mercury and Saturn and originated from the Sun. Therefore, in case of Glucoma these planets along with the second, sixth and twelfth houses of the natal chart and/or their lords as well as the signs Taurus, Virgo and Pisces and/or their lords become involved. For hereditary Glucoma Sun, Moon and Saturn should be particularly judged. Rahu is considered to be a strong enemy for the Sun and the Moon but its effect usually rests in cataract formation while Saturn, being the planet of dry nature should be particularly noted in case of Glucoma. These principles are illustrated in the following cases:

Analysis:-

It is a horari chart for a native who lost the vision of one eye completely and that of the other partially by the attack of Glucoma. The Ascendant of the horari chart is Virgo. The Ascendant lord which is also the significator for nerve is combined with two enemies viz. Mars and Jupiter in the twelfth house in the very dry sign Leo, the Mars and the Jupiter being also dry in nature. This combination is also aspected by strong malefics like Saturn and Rahu both occupying the two dry signs. Further, the significator for the two eyes viz. the Sun and the Moon are also weak by Virtue of their position in the Zodiac. These factors combinedly resulted in the disease being the gradual drying of the nerve system of the eyes ultimately resulting in the loss of eye sight.

Analysis:-

The Ascendant is Virgo which is also the Moon sign and occupied by Jupiter and Neptune. The second house, dry sign in nature, is aspected by Rahu combined with Saturn in another dry sign, the combination also aspecting the twelfth house which is also a dry sign. The second sign of the Zodiac viz. Taurus is aspected by two dry planets Sun and Mars as also by weak Jupiter. The twelfth sign Pisces is aspected by Saturn combined with Rahu, as also by weak Moon and Jupiter. The Ascendant lord and the significator for the nerve system Mercury is posted in a dry, fiery and inimical sign Saggitarius and is aspected by the combination of Saturn and Rahu which itself is aspected by strong enemy and malefic Mars combined with Sun. These combinations resulted in drying of the nerve system of the eyes thereby developing Glucoma.

Analysis:-

The Ascendant is Scorpio, with the Ascendant/sixth lord Mars posted in the sixth sign of the Zodiac viz. Virgo signifying the nerve system and aspected by Saturn and Rahu. The Sun combined with Mercury is hemmed between malefics in the dry sign Leo while Moon is aspected by Saturn and Rahu. The second house of the natal chart, a dry sign is aspected by Mars while the second lord Jupiter, the primary maraka combined with the seventh/twelfth lord, the secondary maraka Venus is posted in the twelfth, another dry sign and hemmed between malefics. The second sign of the Zodiac, Taurus is occupied by strong Rahu with Herschel and the twelfth sign Pisces is aspected by Mars. Thus, all significators for eyes and that corresponding for nerve system being afflicted by drying factors, the native developed the disease Glucoma.

Analysis:-

The Ascendant is Gemini and the Moon sign Taurus. The second sign of the Zodiac Taurus occupied by Moon receives no benefic aspects but is in trinal relation with two dry planets viz. exalted Mars in Capricorn and Saturn in Virgo. The lord of the twelfth sign Pisces is posted in another dry sign Aquarius while Pisces is aspected by Saturn. The second lord of the natal chart viz. Moon is posted in the twelfth house while the second house is aspected by Mars. The twelfth lord Venus which is partly responsible for eye sight is combined with the significator for nerve system Mercury and that for eye-sight. Sun (a strong enemy) is posted in the dry sign Saggitarius. These factors made the nerve system for eyes dry resulting in Glucoma.
